North of the capital Colombo, BAM International has constructed a whole new fishery harbour in Dikkowita, one of Sri Lanka’s many small coastal villages depending largely on fishery for the health of its people and economy.
The port basin spans a breadth of approximately one kilometre with two breakwaters and a quay wall. In addition to the actual port, BAM International has realised an office building, a fish market, a fishnet repair workshop, a ship chandlery, crew quarters, a ship repair slip and a wastewater treatment plant.
For the new breakwater Xblocs, designed by BAM Infraconsult, were produced on site and placed to create the harbour entrance.
