Our guest house is family owned and for this you will feel like you are in a home, not in a hotel. Here you'll have much more contact with locals, without invading your privacy. The building is an one hundred years old Dutch farm-style house with many old features. Even the rooms have a colonial feeling to it, all are fitted with at least a double bed with mosquito-net and ceiling-fan, private bathroom with toilet and shower. Some rooms have air conditioning, but our tiles roof provides relatively cool rooms. We can add beds to the rooms for families. Our garden is full of flowers and birds which you can observe from our peaceful veranda on which our guests enjoy free tea or coffee. The guest house is situated on 418 Main street in Ambalangoda, which is actually the old main street which is not a busy street like Colombo/Galle road. Ambalangoda is not a touristic area itself, though there is enough to see or do. Ambalangoda is in between well know touristic areas such as Hikkaduwa (12 km), Galle (30 km) and Bentota (20km). Ambalangoda has very quiet beaches, a main train and bus station (hub) from which you can directly reach the whole country. We like to make this place a homely place for the guests. To make it easy for them and let them feel informally comfortable with personal service. We like to provide a safesleeping and meeting place for guests from all over the world. We like to do our upmost to help guests for whatever information they want, without commercial intentions. For instance, to visit turtle hatcheries, dancing schools, mask museum, tea , rubber and cinnamon plantation, temples, astrology, puppet shows, devil-dancing, woodcarving and traditional carpentry. We provide local connections for project intentions and love to share our knowledge of culture, history, nature, food and politics. We are locally well known for our high quality local and international food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, made by the owners of the house: Ranjith and Nadini. Every meal is a feast. You can make your wishes clear and we'll make you the best fish, meat or vegetarian dishes you can find in Sri Lanka. Every day we buy fresh ingredients at the local market. We do not have a menu, but will surprise you every day again! Many of the spices and herbs and fruits come from our own garden. Of course rice and curry is our local specialty, to which we like to add new recipes. For breakfast you will be amazed because we provide more than you can eat such as French toast, all kinds of eggs, coffee, tea and much fresh fruit.. We arrange birthday parties, wedding parties for locals as well as for foreign guests. For foreign currency and locally made jewelry as well as gem stones we always get you a better price than the local commercial merchants. We hold a very broad collection of stamps and antiques aswell.
