Sethawadiya Dolphin View Eco Lodge
Nestled between the sea, the lagoon and the salt pans at the tip of the Kalpitiya town lies Sethawadiya Dolphin View Eco Lodge, a Robinson Crusoe hideaway, two hours north west from the main international airport. Sethawadiya Dolphin View Eco Lodge, the first tourist accommodation in the area which has the charm of a dessert Island, the beauty of Bali and the magic of Madagascar, with chalets to cabanas, and restaurant specialising in fresh local sea food from the catch of the day, you will be able to relax, unwind and chill in a peaceful environment. Only a few minutes boat ride from the sea is the passage to the Dolphins and whales, you can Island hop, go fishing, diving, canoeing visit the largest reef in south Asia called the bar reef and the start of the marine sanctuary. Walking through the villages that have changed little over the centuries, the flora and fauna and the wild life will be different from anything you will see in other parts of Sri Lanka. Just newly opened in 2011 fully equiped water sports center offering a kite surfing school, Just in front of the hotel lies the famous sethawadiya spot known to many pro kitters and beginers as one of the best spots in Sri lanka with average winds of 20 knots. Very large lagoon with flat water ideal for beginers and the sea for more advance kiters right in front of the hotel. During may and october we organise down wind trips daily which atracts world class pro kitters doing their stunts ,an experience that cannot be put in words. If that is too much for you why not try sailing our nacra catamaran. As for the weather, Kalpitiya is a dry zone and records very little rain compared to the rest of the country so plenty of sunsine for your tan and plenty of wind to keep you cool. The seasons may come and go as does the colour of sea and lagoon but this will not deter you from some local site seeing; Eg:- The Dutch church, Forts,The famous St'Annes church,or a few minutes boat ride from the hotel passing many unhabited islands through the mangroves from the back of Willpattu wildlife sanctuary and see the abundance of nature and wildlife, trips further a field could include to the ancient cities of Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Kandy and lots more in under three and a half hours.
